Motorcycle Accidents

The best that can be said about this is make sure you are wearing a helmet — and have good uninsured (UM) and underinsured (UIM) motorist coverage. UM means the other side had no insurance. UIM means that when you get creamed and learned the person who pushed you over had minimum coverage of $15,000 — you had the good sense to purchase this insurance, which protects you instead. Thus, if you have a $100,000 case in such circumstances — your own insurance company will pony up $85,000 to put you in the place where you should have been had the other person possessed a large policy instead of only $15,000. Their $15,000 + your $85,000 will get you $100,000 provided you can prove your case.

A motorcycle accident can be particularly serious, and you will probably need both medical care and a good lawyer to put everything back together. Although any motor vehicle accident can cause an injury, those that involve a motorcycle are often much worse and can produce crippling results. When I get high awards and jury verdicts — for motorcycle injuries — it is because my clients are badly injured. No one likes broken hips or bones, which refuse to heal properly.
